Local Training Courses

The training courses which were held during 2008 included eleven main scopes of training, and their total number reached (263) courses attended by (4591) trainees as follows :

 

1) Specialized Banking Operations

 

During 2008, the Institute of Banking Studies held (18) training courses in the area of specialized banking operations. These training courses were attended by (329) participants representing various banks and financial institutions in Jordan, and sessions have addressed the following topics:

 

- Introduction to bank credit.

- Documentary credits.

- Collaterals.

- Internal banking operations.

- Bills for collection.

- Foreign trade (documentary credits and bills for collection).

- Bank guarantees.

- International Standards of Banking Policies (ISBP) to verify the required documents for documentary credits according to the (UCP 600).

- Banking and financial legislations.

- Credit cards.

 

2) Advanced Banking Operations

 

The total number of training courses held in the area of advanced banking operations reached (67) courses, while the number of participants reached (1187). The courses covered the following topics :-

 

- Credit analysis.

- Credit policy and management.

- Syndicated loans.

- Mechanizm of electronic clearing system.

- Banks credit risk analysis.

- Credit follow up and control.

- Detecting bank counterfeit and forgery.

- Management and treatment of non-performing debts.   

- Legal aspects of bank cheques.

- Banking finance and credit risk analysis.

- Leasing.

- SWIFT/ LC'S.

-  Introduction to Basel II and risk management.

- Retail products.

- Combatting money laundering in banks and financial institutions.

-  Contemporary applications of credit facilities collaterals.

- Small and medium sized institutions  leasing.

- Bank's contracts documentation.

- Bank's operations and secrecy.

- Payment system and real time gross settlement system - Jordan (RTGS-JO) in cooperation with the Central Bank of Jordan.

3) Banking Operations in English

 

The Institute carried out during this year (12) training courses in banking operations in English language at the Institute's premises. These training courses were attended by (207) trainees from the different banking  and   financial   institutions.   The training courses titles were :

 

- Human resources development .

- Oral skills for banking English .

- Conversation skills in English .

- The first and the second level of preparatory courses of the (English for Banking and Finance Program), in cooperation with ICTN / Lebanon.

- Business writing skills .

- English conversation skills II .

- Total quality management concepts.

- Credit scoring and its application.

- Project planning and evaluation .

 

4) Accounting and Finance

 

The number of training courses held by the Institute in the area of accounting and finance amounted to (52) courses during 2008 attended by (972) participants, and sessions have addressed the following topics:

- Financial statements analysis.

- Financial statements analysis using computer.

- Economic feasibility studies and projects evaluation.

- Financial analysis for lending purposes.

- Financial planning and forecasting.

- Error and fraud in financial data and auditor's responsibility to detect them.

5) Bank Marketing

 

The total number of training courses held in the area of bank marketing in 2008 reached (7) courses, whereas the number of participants reached (158), and sessions have addressed the following topics: 

 

- Credit cards marketing and methods of fraud.

- Skills of selling bank services.

- Effective communication skills with customers.

- Bank marketing.

- Modern banking selling skills.

- Communication skills and dealing with customers.

 

6) Computer

 

The Institute held (22) training courses during this year in the area of computer  attended by (360) participants. Courses have addressed the following topics:  

 

- MS Excel 2007 .

- Advanced MS Excel 2007 .

- MS Word 2007 .

- Advanced MS Word 2007 .

- Visio 2007 Professional .

- MS Project 2007 Professional.

- The comprehensive computer course.

 - MS PowerPoint 2007.

- MS Outlook 2007.

- Analysing and forecasting using (EViews) program.

- Macro through Excel .

 

7)  Internet

 

The Institute held (6) training courses in the area of internet. (74) trainees took part in these courses, and sessions have addressed the following topics: 

 

- The Internet .

- Designing and programming web pages using (FrontPage 2003 Professional).

- E-banking services risks control .

- E-banking.

 

8)  Islamic Banking Operations

 

The number of training courses held by the Institute in the area of Islamic banking operations totalled (7) courses. These training courses were attended by (114) participants, and sessions covered  the following topics: 

 

- Credit operations in Islamic banks and traditional banks.

- Financing patterns in Islamic banks.

- Options contracts, swaps  and  derivatives from Islamic perspective.

- Analysis of Islamic banks risks and country risks.

- Islamic patterns for financing small and medium size projects.

 

9)  Investment Portfolios

 

The Institute of Banking Studies held (20) courses during this year in the field of investment portfolios. These courses were attended by (237) participants   representing various banks , financial and investment institutions. These courses have covered the following topics :

 

- Financial derivatives.

- Financial engineering.

- Goals and policies of investment portfolios management.

- Bourses and capital markets.

- Equity evaluation (fundamental analysis).

- Technical analysis and price charts.

- Options contracts.

- Forward / future contracts.

10)  Managerial Skills

 

The total number of training courses held by the Institute during 2008 in the area of management and supervisory skills reached (20) courses , attended by (257) participants , and sessions have addressed the following topics:

- Organizing and managing offices and  secretarial business.

- Bank branches management.

The Institute has carried out during this year (32) special training courses attended by (696) trainees from BLOM Bank, HSBC Middle East Bank , ABC Bank, Cairo Amman Bank, Capital Bank, Ahli Bank, and Income and Sales Tax Department. The sessions have addressed the following topics:  

 

- Skills of selling bank services.

- Detecting bank counterfeit and forgery.

- Banks operations and secrecy.

- Comprehensive training program for beginners.

- Effective communication skills in English.

- Syndicated loans.

- Introduction to MS Word and Outlook 2007.
