Specialized Banking Seminars Held at the Institute during the Fourth Quarter of 2009

During the fourth quarter of 2009, the Institute carried out the following three specialized seminars:

 

1- Financial Engineering Seminar 

 

This seminar was carried out from 4/10 to 8/10/2009 in cooperation with Sigma Associates / UK and was attended by (27) trainees from  different banks and financial institutions.

 

The seminar focused on providing the participants with mathematical skills related to financial engineering and its development. It also included an explanation of swaps, futures, and options contracts and their relationship with financial engineering. The seminar also dealt with the different types of financial risks through practical examples and applications to increase the participants' benefits and deepen their knowledge of the seminar's subjects.

 

 

2- World-Class Asset and Liability Management Seminar 

 

This seminar was held from 19/10 to 22/10/2009 and was attended by (15) trainees from the Jordanian banking and financial   institutions.

This specialized seminar focused on all aspects related to the structure of assets and liabilities according to international standards, and managing them efficiently and effectively in order to realize more profits within a determined risk level, as well as on the measures which help assets and liabilities stabilization, organization and control, in addition to realizing adequate returns from this operation. All this was done through case studies and actual examples from foreign banks and from studying their financial statements.

 

 

3- Best Practices in SME Banking Seminar 

 

This seminar was carried out from 1/11 to 4/11/2009 and was attended by (18) trainees from the different institutions of the Jordanian banking and financial sector.

This seminar aimed at acquainting the participants with the importance of the banks and the banking sector in accommodating the financial needs of small and medium companies and knowing the priorities of growth in the Jordanian market, as well as discussing the methods that the banks can adopt to strengthen the operation of small and medium projects.

The seminar focused on several subjects such as marketing and selling to small and medium companies, and introducing bank credit policies for these companies according to established international basis. The seminar also dealt with many case studies which enlightened the participants on carrying out a comprehensive study of small and medium companies and ways of financing them.
