The Institute of Banking Studies held during the first quarter of the year 2010 two specialized banking seminars as follows :-
1-Advanced Credit AnalysisSeminar
This seminar was carried out during the period 14/2-18/2/2010 in cooperation with Global Finance and Derivatives Associates / USA with an attendance of (23) trainees from different Institutions of the banking and financial sector . The seminar focused on various subjects related to critical factors in credit decision - making, the fundamentals of evaluating credit worthiness , analyzing of cash flow of a borrower’s capacity and the business cycle. Also , this seminar focused on subjects related to how to evaluate and manage credit risk , the usefulness of forecasting the coming financial events with an indication to the importance of that in introducing many of problems facing all users of debt to finance their investments specially loans with the negatives of debt and how to control them.
2- Basel II : Analysis and ImplementationSeminar
This seminar was held during 7/3-11/3/2010 and was attended by (25) trainees from the different local banks and financial institutions . This seminar was held in cooperation with DNA Training and Consulting / Lebanon .
The seminar focused on all aspects related to financial risk management , evaluation , and analytical techniques which consist with the Basel II accord and its latest amendments. In addition to all types of risks that surrounding various investments beside the operational and credit risk , and the techniques of using derivatives in hedging and managing these risks , in addition to a various subjects related to critical factors in credit decisionmaking , and how to evaluate and manage credit risk according to Basel II accord and its latest amendments.
At the end of these seminars , Dr. Marwan Al-Zoubi / General Director of the Institute thanked the managers of Global Finance and Derivatives AssociatedandDNA Training and Consultingfor their efforts to make those seminars successful ones , then the participants were granted their certificates and they were thanked for their attendance and for the role of their institutions in supporting the training activities of the Institute.
