| Specialized Banking Seminars Held at the Institute During the Third Quarter 2005 |
Five specialized seminars were held at the Institute of Banking Studies during the third quarter of this year as follows:
1- "Anti-Money Laundering" This seminar was held during 3/7-7/7/2005 in cooperation with Bond Associates Ltd. / UK and was attended by (15) trainees from different banks and financial institutions. The seminar discussed the legal framework of anti-money laundering legislation as well as the existing laws related to money laundering in Jordan , Europe and USA . Also the seminar discussed the stages of money laundering , monitoring techniques, reporting , auditing and the international attempts to combat money laundering as well as assuring the correctness of information sources, and all this through an in-depth study of advanced practical cases in this field. |
| 2- Developing and Structuring New Wholesale and Retail Financial Products This seminar was held during 17/7-21/7/2005 in cooperation with Sigma Associates / UK and was attended by (12) trainees from the different banks and financial institutions. the seminar dealt with several subjects such as designing and introducing new financial products, how to design retail products, the essential analytical skills to assess and manage the risks involved in a new product designing and marketing in addition to wholesale corporate and banking commercial financial products. |
| 3- Financial Modeling for Credit Risk This seminar was held during 7/8-10/8/2005 in cooperation with Euromoney Training / UK and was attended by (25) trainees representing institutions of the Jordanian banking and financial sector . The subjects of this seminar included credit analysis and financial modeling , debt structure , incorporation of debt into financial models. as well as how to use fully developed models that incorporate sophisticated debt structuring , break- even analysis, sensitivity analysis and time series analysis. |
| 4- Measuring and Managing Operational Risk and Basel II This seminar was held during 4/9-7/9/2005 in cooperation with Euromoney Training / UK and was attended by (22) trainees from different banks and financial institutions. The seminar acquainted participants with the definition of operational risk, the role of quality in controlling them and how to measure operational risk in line with BIS / BASEL accord, hedging tools to reduce risk and the role of the middle office in controlling and mitigating risk. |
| 5- Developments in Personal and Private Banking This seminar was held during 25/9-29/9/2005 in cooperation with Batt and Partners Consulting Ltd./ UK and was attended by (14) trainees representing institutions of the Jordanian banking and financial sector . The seminar discussed strategies for special banking services, customer services, marketing centralization, sales management , public relations and credit risk management in banking services, as well as case studies. | |
