Specialized Banking Seminars Held at the Institute During the Third Quarter of 2004
At the Institute of Banking Studies in Amman , four foreign specialized seminars were held during the third quarter of 2004:

1) Developing New Financial Products for Emerging Markets Seminar
This seminar was held from 18/7 to 22/7/2004 in cooperation with Sigma Associates / UK and was attended by (18) trainees from different banks and financial organizations . The Seminar discussed methods of offering new financial products, management of risks associated with these new products, analysis and development of existing personal and corporate products as well as the role of financial derivatives in enhancing the new products in emerging markets, in addition to case studies.

2) Credit Appraisal Techniques Seminar
This seminar was held from 1/8 to 5/8/2004 in cooperation with Crown Agents Financial Services Ltd. / UK and was attended by (14) trainees representing the financial and banking sector in Jordan . The seminar discussed managing credit risk and the banks balance sheet as well as formulating credit policies, nature and principles of lending , management of loan risks, and production of business plans and project appraisal.

3) Internal Audit for Banks Seminar
This seminar was held from 29/8 to 2/9/2004 in cooperation with Crown Agents Financial Services Ltd./ UK and was attended by (27) trainees . The Seminar discussed the modern role of internal audit in banks, the role and expectations of banking supervisors, control measures on banking operations, audit of banking operations in branches and customers satisfaction as well as the audit principles of E-Banking , E-Commerce and E-Mail.

4) Asset / Liability Management Seminar
This seminar was held from 19/9 to 23/9/2004 in cooperation with Sigma Associates / UK . The subjects discussed in this seminar comprised types and classifications of financial risks, liquidity risks, balance sheet evaluation , types of currency risks, credit risks and capital risks . The seminar discussed also subjects dealing with liquidity management, treatment of deficits and surplus in balance sheets through the sound management of banks assets and liabilities to achieve profitability, persistency and strengthening the financial position of the bank. The seminar was attended by (25) participants from the different financial and banking organizations in Jordan.
