Two specialized seminars were held at the Institute of Banking Studies during the first quarter of this year as follows:

1- "Anti-Money Laundering" Seminar

This seminar was held during 6/3-10/3/2005 in cooperation with Bond Associates Ltd. / UK and was attended by (32) trainees from the different banks and financial institutions in Jordan . The seminar discussed the legal framework of anti money laundering legislation as well as the existing laws related to money laundering in Jordan , Europe and USA . Also the seminar discussed the stages of money laundering , monitoring techniques, reporting , auditing and the international attempts to combat money laundering as well as assuring the correctness of information sources . In view of the need of such subjects, an advanced workshop in money laundering will be held during this year.

2- "Financial Engineering" Workshop

This workshop took place during 27/3-31/3/2005 in cooperation with Sigma Associates / UK and was attended by (24) trainees representing the Jordanian banking and financial sector . This workshop dealt with the concept of financial engineering and characteristics of the financial engineer , future contracts , options and other tools as balancing tools in assets and liabilities management and using financial engineering in building low cost investment positions in foreign exchange and money markets .
